Colorado’s Universal Preschool (UPK) program has released updated 2026 family‑engagement policy requirements. All participating providers must inform families that they have access to each of the following opportunities within the program:

  • Opportunities to utilize interpreters or other language resources as appropriate

  • Opportunities to share home cultural and social practices

  • Opportunities for families to be a part of goal‑setting for the child’s learning

  • Opportunities for families and community partners to engage in program operational decision‑making

  • Opportunities for families to be involved in the child’s transitions between classrooms or schools

  • Opportunities to provide feedback on the quality of program‑family and program‑staff interactions

These items must be included in your 2026 UPK Addendum and made accessible to families and licensing specialists.

I am more than happy to help any centers meet these new requirements!
